Welcome to wust el-balad, a newsletter of good conversations with cool writers
The colloquial Arabic term for a city’s “downtown,” wust el-balad is now also the name of this fun series of interviews I will be conducting with writers, hopefully in addition to other creative and intellectual workers, on this newsletter. This is a new and very much in-progress project, so we will figure things out as we go along!
About me: My name is Hazem and I’m a writer and critic from Cairo. My work’s been published in a bunch of places, including The Boston Review, Prairie Schooner, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Mubi Notebook, and Reverse Shot. Links to all the stuff can be found here. Feel free to say hi here.
